our guide and staff training

All of our guides are hired meeting or exceeding industry standards. They are all trained in Advanced River Rescue, First Aid, and hold a British Columbia Rafting License through the BCROA. As well, Stellar Descents holds regular staff training on our local rivers in order to maintain excellent operation skills and knowledge of our rivers. You will be in good hands.

explainations and safety talk

No rafting experience is necessary, and each raft is appointed a professional river guide.
Our safety talks, will thoroughly explain all the safety aspects, before we hit the river including:
  • How to wear all the provided safety equipment, including a wetsuit, a helmet, and a life jacket.
  • Any possible on water scenarios although they are unlikely, and how we will manage them. If you don’t like what you hear, you can always opt out and receive a full refund.
  • How to sit in the raft and paddle and get you paddling as a crew before we hit the rapids.

water levels

We check the river prior to every trip to ensure the water levels are within the range of our risk management.

In June or July, the snowmelt can create a period when the Fraser River, Beaver River or the Dore are too high to manage the risks safely. This is highly dependent on the snowpack and the weather and can change fast. Later in the season we also manage the risks of water levels being too low to manage the risks and complete the trip safely.

We reserve the right to cancel any trip due to water levels.

waivers

Every participant needs to sign a waiver form in person upon arriving at the Stellar Descents Base. This is a condition of participation before any adventure activity in North America and worldwide. If you would like to review the contents of our waiver form prior to booking or arrival, please CLICK HERE to access a read-only version.
Participants must read and agree to the terms and conditions of the waiver, before we can take you on our white water rafting trip.
